Biography

Manuel Coronado was born in Murcia on 28. March 1942. He visited various art academies and schools, for example the 'Academy of Art' in Sweden and England.
His guides here were 'Francis Bacon' and 'Willam Blake', 'Margret Wilson' and others.
Further art and paint studies he took in Mykonos and Santorini (Greece), in Rome, Amsterdam and at the Picasso school in Paris.

He was captivated early by the magic of the mediterranean island of Mallorca. In a small majorcan village, he found his home which always gives him peace of mind and new inspiration after he returned from one of his many journeys and international exhibitions.

Manuel Coronado belongs to the genius of the abstract and surrealistic painters worldwide.
This outstanding painter got many international awards. Here are only some examples:
  • Already in his lifetime some streets and plazas in various spanish towns were named after this artist (i.e. 'Placa del Pintor Manuel Coronado' in Aguilas).
  • Premio de Pintura 'UNICEF'
  • Premio de Dibujo R.A.D., Belgium
  • Premio de Pintura, City of Palma
  • Medal of Honour, City of Palma 1973
  • Honorary citizen of Palma de Mallorca, Alaró and Aguilas.
  • Some of his paintings can be found i.e.
    in the spanish Kings Palace (Zarzuela),
    the "Museum of modern Art", Lisboa (Portugal),
    in Ohio and New York,
    also in Stockholm (Sweden) etc.
