1285
First attempt by the Catalans to conquer the kingdom of Mallorca by force. A later expedition is forced to turn back by order of the Pope. Two years later, the kingdom is finally subsumed into the kingdom of Aragón by King Alfonso III. - a nephew of Jaume II.
1287: The Moors on Menorca are brutally driven out by Alfonso III.

1295
After the death of Alfonso III. the kingdom (now including Menorca too) was returned to Jaume II.
Under his leadership a wealthy time began for Mallorca in its history.

For example the famous castle "El Castell de Bellver" was built in Palma in this time.

1311
After the death of Jaume II. his son Sanxo got the reign of Mallorca from 1312-1324.
1324-1344: On death of King Sanxo his only 9 year old nephew Jaume III. got the crown.
The reign of King Jaume III. of Mallorca brings economic prosperity. Palma is by now one of the richest cities in the Mediterranean.
But the troops of his cousin (and grandchild of Jaume I.) Pedro IV. of Aragón invade and reincorporate the Balearics once again into the Kingdom of Aragón in the year 1343.
Jaume III. must escape but he returns in 1349 with a little troop and tries to recover 'his' kingdom again.

In the battle near Llucmayor (1349) Jaume III. died. With his death also the independent kingdom of Mallorca ends and the island is re-integrated into the kingdom of Aragón again.

1348
The 'black epidemic' in Palma.
More than 5.000 inhabitants died during this plague.
